What Happened To The People Pictured In The World’s Most Iconic Photographs?

Ieshia Evans, 2016

Another photograph coming from a historic event shows Ieshia Evans, who rushed to join protests in Baton Rouge after Alton Sterling’s shooting. Alton Sterling was shot down by police officers, and following his tragic death, thousands of black people marched across the streets, creating the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. Evans wanted to participate in the protests to show her dissatisfaction with the way police officers handled the matter, and the movement gained worldwide acknowledgment, with people all around the world supporting it. During those protests, she was photographed standing calmly in front of some fully-armed anti-protest forces. Evans is a nurse and a mother, yet, she believed that standing for her rights and the rights of all people of color was more important.
