In the time of popular and standard music, John Royce Mathis, known as Johnny Mathis, excelled as an album artist. With over 400 million of his records sold, he sits up there with the greats like Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra as the third best-selling artist of the 20th century.

Although he is dubbed a romantic singer, he dabbled in many musical genres, including traditional pop, soul, R&B, soft rock, and country music. Apart from receiving the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, three of his recordings also earned him an induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame. He recently appeared in the season finale of “Criminal Minds” in 2020.
