The New Normal: Remote Work Continues To Dominate In All Businesses
Today, we are living in an era where remote work has become a commonplace reality for at least 80% of the workforce. This is the case not only in the U.S. but throughout the world. If you reflect on the last few years, you will conclude that businesses did not consider working from home (or, let’s say, working remotely).
The reason? Well, there was no need for that. With the exception of a few businesses, a vast majority of companies were okay with traditional in-office work. Then the pandemic hit – entirely changing the nature of the workforce.
In early 2019, when the COVID-19 pandemic outbroke in Wuhan, China, it spread worldwide in no time. A typical day during this time looked like this:
– Non-ending lockdowns were imposed by the government all over the world.
– Social isolation and maintaining a six-feet social distancing were made mandatory.
– Mass panic spread all over the world as people continued to lose their loved ones and family members.
– Businesses were shut as per the SOPs of coronavirus.
Thus, businesses were unable to operate their in-office shifts. Because social distancing and lockdowns were imposed, businesses could not sustain in-office work. And there remained the only option: Remote Work.
So, today, as the world has moved on from the pandemic, remote work is gaining popularity. Both businesses and employees are becoming comfortable with working from home.
Remote Work is A Win-Win Module
The most exciting thing about remote work is that both business owners and employees are happy and satisfied with this module. On the business owners’ part, employees are more productive and creative. As employees work from home, they work extra hours and are more productive than in-office workers. Airtasker’s research argues that both companies and employees are happy with the remote work module. Why? Because it is a win-win for both parties.
Thus, remote workers are happy for two apparent reasons: One, they have no obstacles as they do not under strict supervision.
Most importantly, they save a lot of money as they work from home. Typical office expenses like in-office dinners, travel expenses, and other expenses do not bother them anymore. Thus, they tend to be happier, more productive, and more creative.
Likewise, companies are also ‘exempt’ from these additional expenses when their employees work from home. Office infrastructure and other in-office essentials are no more in need! All their employees need is the latest computer model and a stable internet connection. And, of course, a serene workplace. That is it!
Thus, employees who work remotely turn out to be more productive and happy compared to the in-office workforce. And businesses of all sizes and modules are happy to adapt to this novel work model. Similarly, so are the employees.
