You Won’t Believe How Much These Actors, Who Played Professors in the Harry Potter Movies, Are Worth

Young and old, everyone was captivated by the Harry Potter franchise – and who wouldn’t be? Die-hard fans carefully followed the development of the story and witnessed how the characters (and the actors themselves) grew up right before their eyes. So when the final installment of the saga hit theaters in 2011, people were understandably sad.

The films didn’t only make the viewers hooked and entertained, it also made its stars one of the biggest and most sought-after thespians of their generations – catapulting them to stardom and eventually etching their names in the competitive biz.

However, much has been said about how lucrative the movies have been for its lead stars, Daniel Radcliffe (titular character), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley). But what about the professors who played a huge role in the wizards’ lives?

Rubeus Hagrid

The boy who lived would have never made it through difficult situations in the wizard boarding school called Hogwarts if it weren’t for the very huggable and cuddly Rubeus Hagrid, or simply Hagrid. The character, played by Robbie Coltrane, was portrayed so well it’s difficult to find another who could take on the shoes.

Hagrid was one of the original characters of the film

It is safe to say Robbie went home with a massive paycheck from the franchise because he was an original cast. But the actor, whose net worth is at $4 million, doesn’t only boast his Harry Potter film credit, he was also in a few James Bond movies.

Dolores Umbridge

When Dolores Umbridge became the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, everyone was irritated by her – a proof of how Imelda Staunton portrayed the part so well. Despite playing a very despicable character (fans even sometimes find Dolores worse than Voldemort), she is a well-respected English actress not just behind the camera but also on stage.

In her four decades in the industry, she has won and has been nominated in various prestigious award-giving bodies including Olivier, BAFTA, and the Academy. With that level of recognition, it is not surprising to find out that the actress is worth $10 million.

Severus Snape

Professor Snape may seem to be a suspicious character during the first part of the series because he is one of those professors who appeared to be unamused with Harry. However, he greatly redeemed himself and proved to the audience that his love for Lily and her little boy and his loyalty to Dumbledore are immeasurable.

And Alan Rickman’s portrayal of him will always be unforgettable for the fans. In fact, during his sudden death in 2016, Potterheads created a memorial for him on the famous Platform 9 ¾ sign at the King’s Cross railway station.

Alan Rickman met his demise in 2016

Before his death due to pancreatic cancer, his net worth reached $16 million. Aside from acting, Alan also worked as a director and writer.

Gilderoy Lockhart

Another Defense of the Dark Arts teacher, Gilderoy Lockhart may have built his fame through erasing memories and lying but the actor who portrayed him, Sir Kenneth Branagh, marked his name in the industry through hard work and talent.

Sir Kenneth Branagh is not just an actor

With a net worth of $60 million, Sir Kenneth does not only work in front of the camera but is also a celebrated director, screenwriter, and producer. He is the first man who was nominated in the Academy in five different categories.
