Jim Carrey Gave Up His Basic Salary to Net $35 Million from ‘Yes Man’

Jim Carrey was once the energetic comic actor who ruled the entertainment industry in the 90s. The Canadian entertainer was the first actor who earned $20 million as his basic salary.  He went on to feature in some of the biggest movies.

When he was asked to join the ‘Yes Man’ crew, he decided to give up his salary for a share of the profit that the movie was going to make.

He was given some percentage of any profit made and the deal paid off. The movie grossed a whopping $226 million, leaving the comic star with $35 million. Over the years, Carrey stayed away from Hollywood for his second passion, painting.  He almost transformed his home into an art world.

He ended up with a solo exhibition with his creations, ‘Sunshower,’ that was held at the Signature Gallery Group‘s Las Vegas gallery. The good news is that he is back to Hollywood. He revealed that he didn’t want to be in Hollywood again. He wasn’t happy of how the business of movie making was turning to and he decided to take the exit.
